    Pictures of Ourselves
    Joe L. Murgo

    Verse 1
Friday night going out with the girls,
Yea thought I was looking hot.
    Fresh blonde highlights, Loubitons,
    A Windsor dress with a low-cut top.
We were blowing off steam doing round after round,
    Of eighteen-dollar drinks.
The kinds with the funny names,
in a martini Glass and a touch of pink.

    Pre-Chorus
    Then we started taking photos,
And that’s when I said, “oh no”!

    Chorus 1
My hair looked like a big frizz ball,
And I was showing too much skin.
I had a piece of food stuck in my teeth,
And couldn’t hide my double chin.
Then we decided that we’d strike a pose,
At the bar for a girly group shot.
But my Spanx didn’t work as planned,
And my stomach was hanging out.
Yeah, it’s funny how you think,
You look better than everyone else.
Until you see a candid camera,
    Picture of yourself.

    Verse 2
We were stompin’ the floor with big-ass speakers,
    Rattling our brains and bones.
    Drinks in hand, singing loud,
    Taking pictures with our phones.
Then the flash caught me passed out on the floor,
    Face white as a ghost.
    Lipstick smeared, mascara running,
Hope mama don’t see that post.

    Pre-Chorus
When I came to, and got back on my feet,
I asked my friend honey can you hit delete?

    Chorus 2
My hair looked like a big frizz ball,
And I was showing too much skin.
I had a piece of food stuck in my teeth,
And couldn’t hide my double chin.
Then we decided that we’d strike a pose,
At the bar for a girly group shot.
But my Spanx didn’t work as planned,
And my stomach was hanging out.
Yeah, it’s funny how you think,
You look better than everyone else.
Until you see a candid camera,
    Picture of yourself.

    Bridge
Yea it wasn’t pretty, and by the end of the night,
I looked like I’d been in a bar room fight.
But I ain’t making no apologies,
Cause we all had a blast, made fun memories.
Yea these are the times we’ll laugh about someday,
When we’re wondering what our kids are doing out so late.

    Outro
So, I’ll wear my crown a little crooked,
    My hair a little wild.
    Scroll through each unflattering,
    Photo with a smile.
Life’s too short to worry about,
Looking like a perfect Southern belle.
So, here’s to those fun rowdy nights
    And crazy pictures of ourselves.

Yea we’re gonna look back and cherish,
    These crazy pictures of ourselves.
